Privacy Policy — Shotplant

Last updated: September 2026

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy describes how ByteGlo OÜ (“ByteGlo”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information in connection with the macOS application Shotplant (the “App”), available on the Mac App Store.

This Policy applies only to Shotplant. It does not replace Apple’s policies, the App Store Licensed Application End User License Agreement, or the privacy policy for our website at byteglo.com.

By using the App, you acknowledge this Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Who we are (data controller)

  • Company: ByteGlo OÜ
  • Registry code: 17584494
  • Country: Estonia
  • Email:

For personal data we process as a controller (for example support emails you send us), ByteGlo OÜ is the controller under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Screenshot projects that remain only on your Mac are processed on your device under your control. We do not operate a cloud account that stores those projects for us.

3. At a glance

  • Shotplant is a Mac app for preparing App Store screenshots.
  • Projects, screenshots, images, and settings are stored on your Mac.
  • We do not create user accounts in the App.
  • We do not upload your screenshots or project files to ByteGlo servers.
  • We do not sell personal information.
  • The App does not include third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or tracking SDKs.
  • Titles and subtitles leave your Mac and are sent to OpenAI or Google Gemini only when you start a translation. This is not tracking. Screenshots stay on your Mac.
  • Payments are handled by Apple through StoreKit. Premium is a yearly subscription.

4. Information we do not collect

Through the App, ByteGlo does not collect or maintain on our systems:

  • an App user account profile or login;
  • a copy of your screenshot projects, images, or fonts;
  • payment card numbers;
  • precise location;
  • advertising identifiers;
  • keystrokes, pointer activity, or session replay;
  • analytics event streams from third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.

If this ever changes, we will update this Policy and, where required, App Store privacy disclosures before applying the change.

5. Information processed on your Mac

Depending on how you use the App, the following may be stored locally in the App’s sandbox:

  • Projects — screenshot layouts, device poses, themes, titles, subtitles, and locale settings, stored as files under the App’s Application Support folder.
  • Images you add — screenshots, background photos, and floating images you choose from your Mac.
  • Preferences — editor settings stored with the project or in local preferences.
  • Optional API keys — if you save an OpenAI or Gemini key, it is stored in the macOS Keychain on this Mac. The key is not written into the project file.
  • Purchase entitlement status — Apple StoreKit records whether Premium Yearly is active on your Apple ID so the App can unlock Premium features.

This data stays on your Mac unless you export files to a folder you choose, or you use optional AI translation as described below.

6. How information is used

On-device data is used only to provide the App’s features, including to:

  • edit and preview screenshot projects;
  • export PNG files you request;
  • remember poses, themes, and copy for each screen;
  • apply a Premium entitlement purchased through Apple;
  • translate title and subtitle text when you ask the App to do so.

If you contact us by email, we use your email address and message only to respond to that inquiry.

If Apple provides optional crash or diagnostic reports that you have chosen to share with developers, we use them only to diagnose reliability. The App itself does not include a crash-reporting SDK.

7. Optional AI translation

Locale Studio can translate screenshot titles and subtitles. This is off until you choose a provider and save an API key. Using it is your decision. You are responsible for the provider account, any charges, and the text you send.

Titles and subtitles leave your Mac and are sent to OpenAI or Gemini only when you start a translation. This is not tracking. Screenshots stay on your Mac. ByteGlo does not receive that text. A file you save with Manual export stays on your Mac unless you upload it yourself.

  • You choose OpenAI (ChatGPT) or Google Gemini and supply your own API key.
  • The key is stored in the macOS Keychain on your Mac. ByteGlo does not receive the key and does not run a proxy for these requests.
  • When you start a translation, the App sends the title and subtitle text, and the source and target language names, over HTTPS to the provider you selected.
  • Screenshots, imported images, fonts, and project files are not included in that request.
  • The provider processes that text under its own terms and privacy policy. OpenAI and Google may process data outside your country, including outside the EEA.
  • You can delete the saved key in the App. Deleting the key stops further requests that would use it.

Do not put confidential or regulated information in titles or subtitles you choose to translate.

8. Legal bases (EEA / UK users)

Where the GDPR (or UK GDPR) applies to processing for which ByteGlo is controller, we rely on one or more of the following:

  • Contract — to provide the App features you request and to recognize a Premium subscription purchased through Apple.
  • Consent — when you choose optional AI translation and save an API key so the App can send title and subtitle text to the provider you selected.
  • Legitimate interests — for example responding to support emails and reviewing optional Apple diagnostics, balanced against your rights.
  • Legal obligation — where we must retain or disclose information to comply with law.

You can stop AI translation by removing the API key. That does not affect the lawfulness of requests already sent.

9. Permissions and files

The App runs in Apple’s sandbox. It asks for access only when you pick files or save exports:

  • Files you select — to import screenshots and images you choose.
  • Downloads and folders you choose — to write exported PNG files where you ask.
  • Network — to load App Store products, complete a purchase or restore, and, only if you use AI translation, to contact OpenAI or Google.

The App does not use the camera, microphone, location, contacts, or App Tracking Transparency.

10. Third parties

ByteGlo does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

  • Apple — Mac App Store distribution, StoreKit product loading, the yearly subscription, renewal, cancellation, and restore. Apple processes payment. We do not receive your payment card details. Subscription management is in your Apple ID account settings.
  • OpenAI or Google — only if you use AI translation, and only for the title and subtitle text described above.

No other third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting service receives data from the App. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety where permitted.

11. Purchases

Shotplant Premium is offered as an auto-renewing yearly subscription through Apple StoreKit. Apple charges your Apple ID. The subscription renews each year until you cancel it in App Store account settings. For billing, invoices, and refunds, contact Apple Support. Apple’s privacy policy applies to payment data Apple processes.

12. Analytics, advertising, and tracking

The App does not include third-party advertising networks, marketing pixels, or external analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.

We do not use the App to track you across other companies’ apps and websites for advertising.

13. Retention and deletion

  • On-device projects remain on your Mac until you delete them or uninstall the App. Uninstalling removes the App sandbox, including local projects, unless you have exported copies elsewhere.
  • API keys stay in the Keychain until you delete them in the App or remove the App’s Keychain items.
  • Exports you save to a folder remain there until you delete those files.
  • Support emails are kept only as long as needed to handle the inquiry, or longer if the law requires.
  • Subscription records are managed by Apple.

14. Security

The App runs inside the macOS app sandbox. API keys are stored in the Keychain. Translation requests and App Store connections use HTTPS. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

You are responsible for your Mac, your Apple ID, and any API key you choose to save.

15. Children’s privacy

Shotplant is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 on our systems. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us by email, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it where required.

16. Your privacy rights

EEA / UK. Subject to legal limits, you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to certain processing, and to data portability, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in Estonia, the Data Protection Inspectorate — Andmekaitse Inspektsioon). Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw consent.

Because projects stay on your Mac, you can usually delete them in the App, delete an API key, or uninstall the App.

For personal data we hold from an email you sent us, contact us using the control below. We may need to verify your request.

California. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share App content for cross-context behavioral advertising.

17. International users

ByteGlo is established in Estonia (EU). If you email us, your message may be processed in the EU. Apple, and OpenAI or Google if you use translation, may process data in other countries under their own terms.

18. Changes

We may update this Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. The current version is posted at https://byteglo.com/apps/shotplant/privacy.html. Continued use of the App after an update means you acknowledge the revised Policy, except where applicable law requires additional consent.
